Weddings and Receptions

The sound and presence of the harp will add an unforgettable element to your wedding or reception. I have played for a large number of weddings, and I always receive many compliments from couples and their guests about how much they've enjoyed the experience of hearing live harp music.

On the following page I've provided answers to some common questions I've received from prospective wedding clients, but encourage you to contact me if you need further information. Please click a link below to find information:

Wedding and Reception Rate Information

My standard fee for weddings includes a phone consultation to discuss musical choices for your ceremony, 30 minutes of prelude music before the wedding, and all the music during a standard 20 - 30 minute ceremony.

I'm also available for wedding receptions, and if you're interested in having me play at both your ceremony and reception, a package deal may be available.

For an accurate quote, please contact me with the date, time and location of your event.

The Music

I play a mix of Celtic, classical, Mediterranean, medieval, and original songs. To assist you in choosing songs for your ceremony, I'll play some suitable options for you to select from during a phone consultation. For the 30 minute prelude before the ceremony, I generally play songs of my choice for the enjoyment of your guests as they are being seated.

The three main points during the ceremony where music is usually played are called the processional (entrance of the wedding party), interlude (signing of the register) and recessional (exit of the wedding party). The following list provides some examples of songs in my repertoire that are suitable for weddings, and I've indicated in brackets where in the ceremony they're generally played.

Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring (P, R) Canon in D (P)
Sally Gardens (P, I) Fanny Power (P, I)
Give me Your Hand (P, I) Bridal Chorus (P)
Chaconne (P) Mairi's Wedding (R)
Air from Water Music (P, I,) Off to California (R)
Prince of Denmark's March (P, R) Ave Maria (P, I)

This is only a sample of songs in my repertoire, and if you're interested in a specific song, I may know it. For special requests outside of my repertoire, provided they are playable on the harp, there may be an added charge, and I must be notified at least 2 months prior to the date.

Outdoor Weddings

I've played many outdoor weddings, but I do have a few requirements that must be kept in mind. If the ceremony is held in an area subject to direct sunlight, you must provide gazebo or large umbrella to prevent sun damage to the harp. Additionally, the ground should be fairly level and free of rocks or sand, and of course, in cases of rain, high winds, etc. I won't play outside.

Booking and Payment

After you've contacted me about your event and would like to proceed with booking, I'll send you two copies of the contract--one for you to keep, and one to sign and send back to me with a $50 dollar non-refundable deposit to secure the date. The balance remaining will be due the day of the ceremony. I will be in touch with you a couple of weeks before the date to reconfirm all the necessary details.

And in the event of unforeseen circumstances, such as illness, that make it impossible for me to play on the day of your wedding, I will do my best to find a replacement and will refund whatever amount you have paid up to this point.
