Biography

I was raised in Carman, Manitoba and spent a number of years in Winnipeg, where I did an undergraduate degree in history. My move to Toronto two years ago was prompted by my decision to complete the Master of Information Studies program at the University of Toronto, which I graduated from this past June. So nowadays, I guess you could say I'm a librarian hopeful/Celtic harpist.

I began playing piano at age nine, and although I enjoyed piano, I think I always wanted to play the harp. A couple of years later, I was able to begin taking lessons with Elizabeth Goossen in Winnipeg, and fairly quickly I realized that it was the instrument for me, though I did have a brief infatuation with the guitar during my teenage years. Since moving to Toronto, I've had the opportunity to further my harp studies with the lovely Sharlene Wallace.

The Harps I currently have the three harps as pictured. The one in the top right corner was made by harpmaker Larry Fisher of Winnipeg, Manitoba; the smallest one in the picture left is a lap harp that I picked up in Scotland from Ardival Harps; and finally the largest one was made by Dave Proven of Minnedosa, Manitoba.
